We were quite pleased with Evol’s Chicken Tikka Masala bowl when we tried it a while back. In fact, we said it was a frozen food that didn’t taste like a frozen food. So when we learned that Evol packed this flavor combo into a burrito, we knew we had to try it out.
The Evol Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito seems like something we’d really like, so we were pretty excited to get this thing home and toss it into the oven.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t translate as well to a burrito as it did to a bowl. The flavor is pretty good — there’s a wonderful blend of spices inside — but the filling is a bit dry, which makes it less pleasant to eat than it would be otherwise. Dryness wasn’t a problem in the Chicken Tikka Masala bowl, so we’re quite disappointed that it’s a problem here.
This burrito’s biggest sin, though, is the lack of chicken. We’ve pointed out in the past that Evol isn’t always generous with their chicken portions, and they didn’t change their tune with this burrito. In the bowl version of this meal, the chicken really sings. Here, the almost unnoticeable portion size becomes a liability.
The calorie count isn’t terrible — this burrito has 270 calories (60 from fat) — but this isn’t very filling. You could easily eat two of these, and that would still only be a fairly small dinner.
The Evol Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito isn’t as good as we’d hoped. With some more chicken and something to make this a bit less dry, this could have been great. As is, we’re sad to report that it falls short of our expectations.
