Trader Joe’s Mashed Potatoes Review

Trader Joe's Mashed Potatoes

When it comes to side dishes, there are few goodies that the Freezer Meal Frenzy staff loves as much as homemade mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, making mashed potatoes from scratch can be a bit of a hassle. We’re not always up to peeling, cooking, and mashing potatoes at the end of a busy day. Thankfully, Trader Joe’s Mashed Potatoes are a quick, simple, and tasty alternative.

Preparing these potatoes was incredibly easy; the process took us less than 10 minutes in total. We simply combined some frozen potatoes with milk and stirred until the potatoes were thawed and heated. If you’re looking to cut calories, you can mix in a little water. If you like your mashed potatoes to be extra creamy, you can add some butter as well.

Trader Joe’s says that there are seven servings of mashed potatoes per bag. We’re not sure that that’s exactly right, but they do provide you with plenty of potato-y goodness. The potatoes you see above used about half of a bag. If you’re cooking for a group of four or five, one full bag should be more than enough.

We don’t think these are quite as good as the mashed potatoes we make from scratch, but they’re still very tasty. You can tell they’re made from actual potatoes. If you’ve been put off by instant mashed potato flakes, you can rest assured that these are the real deal.

It’s also easy to add more flavor to these potatoes as desired. While they’re good enough to eat plain, you can take them to the next level with some seasoning or your favorite gravy.

Trader Joe’s Mashed Potatoes are a terrific option for anyone that doesn’t have the time to make mashed potatoes from scratch. They’re fast, flavorful, and are even fairly healthy. Potato enthusiasts should definitely give these frozen potatoes a try.
