Never heard of Lunds & Byerlys? It’s a Minnesota-based chain of upscale grocery stores. They have a wide range of frozen food products, ranging from soups to sausage bakes. If you’re in the Minnesota area, we recommend their products highly.
Like many frozen lasagnas, the Lunds & Byerlys Five Cheese Lasagna can’t be described as fast and easy. Even though it comes with microwave instructions, we chose to bake it in the oven. The process isn’t difficult, but it takes almost an hour to bake this. If you’re starving, that’s a long time to wait.
If you’re willing to wait for it, you’ll be treated to an incredibly tasty cheese lasagna. There’s a great variety of cheese in this dish, including fontina, mozzarella, asiago, and parmesan, and all of it is absolutely delicious. This is high-quality cheese, and there’s plenty of it; if you’re a cheese lover, you’ll enjoy every last bite.
The cheese is definitely the centerpiece of this dish, but the other ingredients are also mouthwatering. The lasagna noodles are a little softer than we expected, but they’re not chewy at all. The texture is extremely appealing, especially when you get a bite of lasagna that’s absolutely covered with cheese.
The sauce is also fantastic. It’s a thicker tomato sauce, with big chunks of fresh Roma tomato. We really love the way the sauce mixes with the ricotta cheese. The sauce is a little bit spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, and that bit of heat is a wonderful complement to the creamy cheese.
