Lean Cuisine Moroccan-Style Spiced Beef Review

Lean Cuisine Moroccan-Style Spiced Beef

Lean Cuisine often puts out items they refer to as “Limited Edition.” We’re not really sure why they do this. Does this mean these items are only going to be available for a limited time? The only thing we can think of is that perhaps Lean Cuisine offers some fairly experimental dishes in this line so they can see how well they do before committing them to one of their full-time lines.

Either way, we saw the Lean Cuisine Moroccan-Style Spiced Beef — which is a Limited Edition meal — and we knew we had to try it while we had the chance.

The main event here is the beef, which comes in chunks and is spiced up with things like garlic, ginger puree, and chili powder. The beef is pretty good. It’s not the highest quality beef in the world, but it’s actually better than we thought it’d be. A few of the pieces in our dish were a little too gristly, but aside from that this beef has a good consistency and the flavor is pretty rich. Part of that, of course, is due to the spices.

Now, we keep mentioning those spices, but keep in mind those are milder spices. This has the sort of spiciness that you won’t really feel in your mouth, but it sort of tingles in the back of your throat. You’ll also notice your sinuses clearing once you’re about halfway through the dish.

This comes with a side of couscous that has raisins, chickpeas, and chunks of sweet potato mixed in. This is actually a pretty tasty blend. The couscous has a nice texture, and the sweet potatoes give it a subtle sweetness that we really enjoy.

With 650 mg of sodium and just 310 calories, this meal probably won’t mess up any diets. The sodium is a little high if you’re watching your sodium levels, but it’s actually slightly lower than average for a frozen meal. And the calorie count is just outside what we’d call a diet meal.

The Lean Cuisine Moroccan-Style Spiced Beef is a nice low-calorie option for those looking for something a bit off the beaten path. If you’re interested in trying it, you should pick one of these up before it’s gone forever.
