If you’re a fan of basic chicken dinners, but you don’t have a lot of time to cook them, Lean Cuisine has got your back. They’ve got several chicken dinner options in their lineup, including the Chicken in Sweet BBQ Sauce and the Herb Roasted Chicken.
Today, we’re delving deeper into this assortment of frozen chicken dinners with the Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken. Like the other dishes we mentioned, this is a simple microwavable meal that features chicken with a side dish — in this case it’s a rice blend.
So let’s dig in!
Our meal contained five pieces of chicken drenched in a glaze. While the word glaze tends to conjure something super shiny that is thinly spread over the chicken, there’s a ton of it here, as you can see in the picture below.
The glaze tastes alright. It has more of a nutty flavor than we expected, and it’s not as sweet as we were hoping it would be. It works well enough with the chicken that we can’t complain, but it’s not a craveable chicken topper by any means.
As for the chicken, this is nothing fancy. These are just chunks of white meat chicken that are rather inoffensive. They don’t have a ton of flavor, and the insides are a little bit dry, but the glaze works to mitigate both of these problems somewhat.
As we mentioned earlier, the side dish here is a rice blend, and it’s not all that interesting. It contains white rice, cashews, and green beans. This is a mix where the most exciting item is a green bean, which tells you just how dull this is as a side dish. The rice is bland and the cashews are nothing special. Thankfully, you should have plenty of sauce left over from the chicken to cover up the blandness.
This is a low-calorie frozen meal, with just 260 calories. The sodium isn’t bad either, at 530 mg. This frozen meal certainly won’t ruin a diet.
The Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken is alright if you really need a chicken dinner in a snap, but it’s really not worth getting too excited about. Thankfully, the low calorie count makes this at least a little bit appealing for a fast lunch at work or what have you. Just keep your expectations thoroughly tampered.
