Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches Review

Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches

We do enjoy our breakfast sandwiches here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, and we’re always on the lookout for a new favorite. Recently, we’ve been diving into the Jimmy Dean line of breakfast foods, and we found the Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Honey Wheat English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches to be halfway decent (though they’re certainly not our favorite breakfast sandwiches).

So today we’re going to delve deeper into that line and see what the Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches have to offer.

First off, we have to cook these things. The process is simple enough — just wrap a sandwich in a paper towel and pop it in the microwave. The cook time will vary depending on whether you’re heating these from frozen or thawed. We recommend thawing them out first, but keep in mind that you shouldn’t leave these in the refrigerator for more than three days or they might spoil.

If you’re expecting the nice, fluffy croissant you see on the box art, you might be pretty disappointed. These sandwiches have the smooshed-down look of fast food burgers. The consistency of the croissant is a bit rubbery as well.

However, the flavor here is pretty good. While we aren’t fans of the chewy consistency of the croissant, it does have a great flavor that really adds a lot to the sandwich. The sausage tastes great as well. It has a spicy, greasy flavor with just a hint of sweetness that really complements the croissant well.

Neither the egg nor the cheese is really anything to get excited about. The yellow egg patty has a decent texture and it adds a hint of that breakfast eggy-ness to the sandwich as a whole. The cheese is American — while we’d definitely prefer a cheddar or swiss, it does the things it’s supposed to do.

These aren’t the most lightweight sandwiches on the market. One sandwich contains 400 calories (230 from fat) and 610 mg of sodium. Since you’ll be tempted to eat two at a time, these numbers really start to add up.

The Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches are moderately decent breakfast sandwiches, despite some flaws. We think they’ll do in a pinch if you’re craving a breakfast sandwich in a rush. If you have more time to prepare something, however, there are certainly better options out there.

When I went to click closed the obnoxious comment box that popped over the text I was reading, it spun me down here to the bottom of the page. Super fucking annoying, and I will not return to this site because of that.
