The idea behind PF Chang’s Home Menu is to create restaurant-quality Asian food that’s appropriate for the freezer aisle of your local grocery store. That’s an ambitious task, but PF Chang’s is up to the challenge (though we admit they don’t always reach the high level of quality that’s advertised on the package).
Today, we’re giving the PF Chang’s Home Menu Honey Chicken a try. We absolutely love Asian-style chicken dishes, and we know PF Chang’s has the chops to make this a worthwhile endeavor.
First off, this isn’t a microwave dish, but as long as you have a pan and a few minutes to spare, it’s not tough to cook up. In fact, we were surprised at how fast this is to heat up in a pan — it took us about six minutes in total. (You can see the full cooking instructions at the bottom of this review.)
This comes out smelling amazing, but please let it cool for a bit before chomping into it. We wouldn’t want you to burn yourself.
The pieces of chicken have a nugget-like quality to them. They’re soft and spongy, which makes them easy to eat and also allows them to soak up a ton of the sauce.
And that sauce is absolutely incredible. It’s rich in flavor, and it has a sweetness that makes the whole thing pop. It causes the chicken to be a bit sticky, of course, but that’s nothing to complain about.
We recommend that you serve this atop a bed of fried rice. PF Chang’s can help you out in this area, or you could cross brands and use something like the Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice or the InnovAsian Cuisine Vegetable Fried Rice.
The package considers about a third of a bag to be a serving. If you stick with the recommended serving size, you’ll be scarfing down 340 calories and 1,260 mg of sodium. The calories aren’t bad, but that sodium level is absolutely bonkers. Be careful with this one, especially if you’re serving it with fried rice (which also tends to be high in sodium).
The PF Chang’s Home Menu Honey Chicken is great. We really love this dish, and we recommend pairing it with some fried rice for an absolute thrill of a meal.

I would cook this for longer than 6 minutes. It’s completely raw at first.
