Gardein Original Breakfast Saus’age Patties Review

Gardein Original Breakfast Saus'age Patties

Breakfast menus are often dominated by pork products. From bacon to sausage, it’s hard to find breakfast dishes that don’t contain any pig. If you love a big breakfast, but would prefer to avoid pork, Gardein Original Breakfast Saus’age Patties are a terrific alternative. They don’t look like pork, or even taste like it, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great.

Gardein says that these patties should take about nine minutes to cook on the stovetop, but our patties heated up a lot more quickly than that. We let our patties cook about three minutes on each side over medium-high heat before removing them from the stove and plopping them onto a plate. Rather than watching the clock, we’d recommend watching your patties. Once both sides are browned, they’re ready to eat!

If you’re looking for a convincing substitute for pork sausage, look elsewhere. These breakfast patties can definitely serve as a replacement for sausage, but they’re not trying to imitate meat at all. If you’re simply looking for a tasty meatless breakfast treat, this is an item you need to pick up.

These patties taste a little like seasoned potatoes, which makes sense considering they’re made from potato starch. They’re soft and fairly juicy, but they’re not crumbly at all. Our patties were soft enough to cut with a fork, but they still held together perfectly as we ate them. The patties would pair very nicely with ketchup or even some salsa, but they’re also flavorful enough to eat plain.

We actually prefer Gardein Original Breakfast Saus’age Patties to some of the more pork-like meatless sausages we’ve tried. These patties aren’t trying to taste like something they’re not. They’re simply tasty frozen patties that would complement any breakfast nicely.
