Trader Joe’s Multi Grain Toaster Waffles Review

Trader Joe's Multi Grain Toaster Waffles

While waffles have been around since the 14th century, toaster waffles are a more recent invention. Frozen waffles have only been around since the 1950s, and they haven’t gone through many changes since then. So Trader Joe’s Multi Grain Toaster Waffles aren’t reinventing the wheel, but they are a more nutritious version of this breakfast staple.

The Freezer Meal Frenzy offices still don’t have a toaster, but thankfully, that’s never kept us from toasting up waffles. We simply tossed them into our toaster oven and waited until they were slightly crispy. If you don’t have a toaster or a toaster oven, you could also try heating these up in a standard oven.

Even when they’re freshly toasted, these waffles aren’t overly dry. In fact, we didn’t even bother to butter our waffles before we ate them. We did, however, douse them in Trader Joe’s maple syrup.

This is a pretty basic waffle, but in our book, that’s not a bad thing. While we appreciate a gourmet waffle, sometimes we just want a simple, Eggo-esque treat. Even though these are multigrain waffles, they taste very similar to your basic, no-frills frozen waffle.

If you’re a fan of Kashi 7-grain waffles, these waffles might not be a bad alternative. They’re not identical — the TJ’s waffles are higher in calories and contain slightly more sugar — but they have a very similar flavor. Since these waffles are made from enriched flour, they’re a great way to sneak essential nutrients like folic acid and iron into your diet.

Trader Joe’s Multi Grain Toaster Waffles are a healthier take on a classic breakfast treat, but thankfully, they don’t sacrifice anything in the flavor department. Try swapping out your favorite waffles with these nutrient-dense goodies. Once you add your favorite maple syrup, you won’t even be able to tell the difference.
