Here at the Freezer Meal Frenzy office, we love sweet, creamy ice cream and gelato, even though these sweet treats are not the healthiest of indulgences. The Talenti Roman Raspberry Dairy-Free Sorbetto isn’t quite a health food, but it’s a delicious, lower-calorie take on one of our favorite treats.
Traditionally, sorbet is made by blending water with fruit juice and other ingredients before freezing. We’re not quite sure of Talenti’s exact methods, but this contains the kind of ingredients we’d expect to find in sorbet, like water, sugar, raspberries, and lemon juice for a bit of tartness. It also contains dextrose and carob bean gum, which we assume help give this its picture-perfect color and consistency.
Because this contains both raspberry and lemon juice, it’s definitely on the tart side. We’d recommend picking up a different flavor if you prefer your fruit on the sweeter side. If you’re like us and you love the taste of raspberries, however, you’ll really enjoy this. The sorbet melts in your mouth, filling it with a perfect berry flavor. We think this would be the perfect treat on a sweltering hot day; it’s pretty hydrating!
Since it’s on the sour side, it’s easy to enjoy some of this sorbet without overdoing it. Talenti claims that there are three servings per container, and that seems like a perfect estimate. A serving only contains 150 calories, but it also contains 33 grams of sugar. This is healthier than your average ice cream, but you still won’t want to overdo it!
The Talenti Roman Raspberry Dairy-Free Sorbetto isn’t just a great dessert for vegans; it’s a sweet treat that anyone can enjoy. The raspberry flavor might be a little too tart for some, but if you’re a fan of raspberries, this sorbet might wind up becoming one of your favorite desserts!
