While we prefer to heat our frozen pizzas in the oven, we’re not opposed to eating a microwavable pizza every now and then. It’s fast, it’s easy, and most importantly, it’s pizza. The Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach & Mushroom Pizza isn’t quite the pizza of our dreams, but it’ll do.
We’ve actually reviewed this particular pizza twice before — once when it was a part of the Craveables line and once when it was first moved over to the Comfort line. While this pizza is still a part of the Comfort line, we thought we’d revisit it since it has received fresh packaging.
Like all of Lean Cuisine’s pizzas, the box can be converted into a crisping tray that helps the pizza to cook evenly in the microwave. It won’t take you long to put everything together, and it allows a deep dish pizza like this to cook all the way through.
When Lean Cuisine moved this product over to the Comfort line, they may a few small tweaks to the original recipe. This time around, it doesn’t seem like anything has been changed besides the packaging. Both the ingredients list and calorie count are identical.
If you haven’t tried this before, and you haven’t read our old reviews, you might be wondering how this pizza tastes. It’s actually pretty good. It definitely tastes like a microwave pizza — the crust is really doughy — but it’s got a lot of nice little touches that kick it up a notch. There’s plenty of cheese, the mushrooms a pretty meaty, and the alfredo sauce makes this taste like a decadent dish.
Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach & Mushroom Pizza is still a pretty solid microwave pizza. No matter how many times Lean Cuisine tweaks the packaging, this is a dish that we’ll keep coming back to. It’s a single serving of pizza, it’s super easy to make, and it’s pretty darn tasty too. We can’t complain about that!
