The Freezer Meal Frenzy staffers like to have a diverse selection of veggie burgers in our freezers. Sometimes, we want a patty that actually tastes meaty. Other times, we find ourselves craving vegetables. If you’re in the mood for some veggies, the Dr. Praeger’s California Veggie Burgers are an excellent option.
When you open the box, you’ll find that each one of these patties is individually wrapped. Since it’s normal for us to cook just one burger at a time, we really appreciate this kind of packaging.
This is a versatile patty that’s easy to prepare. There are a few different options for cooking these: you can toss them in the microwave or even heat them up in your toaster oven. we decided on using a skillet. It only took us about 10 minutes to heat this burger on the stove, and we didn’t encounter any problems. Just be aware that it’s on the softer side; you should take care when you’re assembling your burger. (If you want to see the full cooking instructions for these veggie burger patties, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

If you check the ingredients list, you’ll see that this patty is comprised of all kinds of different veggies, including carrots, zucchini, spinach, red peppers, and broccoli. Dr. Praeger’s definitely isn’t trying to hide those flavors, so if you’re not a fan of vegetables, you probably won’t enjoy these burgers either. If you’re like us, however, you’ll love this patty’s garden-fresh flavor.
Inside the patty, you’ll find edamame beans, which give this otherwise soft patty a little bit of a crunch. Not only does that make these burgers even more delicious, but it gives the patty a little bit of extra protein. While the protein makes this fairly satiating, you should keep in mind that there are just 130 calories per patty. If you’re trying to make a meal, you may want to pair this with your favorite frozen fries.

The Dr. Praeger’s California Veggie Burgers aren’t for everyone, but they’re among our favorite veggie patties on the market. Not only do they make great burgers, but they taste delicious when chopped up over a salad. If you enjoy vegetables, and you don’t mind the low calorie count, you’ll definitely want these patties on your plate.
