Sweet Earth Awesome Bulgogi Review

Sweet Earth Awesome Bulgogi

Bulgogi, which literally translates to “fire meat,” is a popular Korean beef dish. Traditionally, both the meat and the vegetables it’s served with are prepared right in front of you. On the other hand, the Sweet Earth Awesome Bulgogi is microwavable, free of beef, and pretty light on fire. Still, it’s a pretty tasty plant-based dish.

If you’ve made a microwave dinner before, nothing about preparing this will catch you off guard. You just need to poke a few holes in the plastic, heat it up, give it a quick stir, and then heat it some more. Our meal was ready to eat within five minutes, which makes this a great workplace lunch.

Sweet Earth Awesome Bulgogi

We were pretty excited about this when it came out of the microwave. The brightly-colored vegetables look fantastic, and this dish smells absolutely amazing. When we took our first bite, we were a little disappointed by the lack of spice, but this is still a tasty meal with a lot of ingredients. The texture of the rice is absolutely perfect, there’s plenty of sauce, and all of the veggies taste fresh.

Our one complaint lies with the faux beef. We actually really like the texture, and it tastes pretty good, especially when it’s soaked in sweet and savory sauce. However, it has a bitter aftertaste that we really don’t enjoy. It’s easy to mask it if you bite into some veggies or rice, but it still took away from the bowl.

The Sweet Earth Awesome Bulgogi definitely isn’t trying to be authentic bulgogi, and that’s okay. We wish it were spicier, and we’re not huge fans of the aftertaste of the plant-based Awesome Grounds, but we still think this is a pretty decent meal. If you’re on the lookout for plant-based frozen meals, this dish is worth considering.
