Trader Joe’s Chicken Cilantro Mini Wontons Review

Trader Joe's Chicken Cilantro Mini Wontons

As much as we love wontons, it seems we hardly ever get the chance to review them here at Freezer Meal Frenzy. Frozen wontons do exist, of course, but they seem to be somewhat rare in comparison to other frozen foods, such as pizza and burgers. So today we’re pretty happy to be checking out the Trader Joe’s Chicken Cilantro Mini Wontons.

These little devils are easy enough to cook. Simply grease up a pan, toss some wontons in for a few minutes, then add some water and let them boil for a couple more minutes. You can also heat these in the microwave, but we thought it would be better to go with the pan. (To read the full cooking instructions, check out our package scan at the bottom of this review.)

These wontons sure are tasty little buggers. Each one has a squishy, doughy shell, which is very satisfying to bite into, and each comes filled with chicken and cabbage. The chicken is lovely, though the portion size is scant, but it’s the cilantro that really drives the flavor here. The cilantro adds a potent herbal taste, which brings the whole thing together

These really aren’t all that bad, as far as calories go. One serving (four pieces) contains 50 calories, which means you can chomp down half a bag and only be eating 200 to 250 calories. The sodium isn’t too bad either, with just 150 mg per serving.

The Trader Joe’s Chicken Cilantro Mini Wontons are absolutely delicious. They would probably be a little bland without the cilantro, but the cilantro turns these into an incredibly tasty little snack. We didn’t try ours with any dipping sauces, but we think just a dab of soy sauce might make these even better.
