Even if you eat meat, veggie burgers are a great thing to keep tucked away in your freezer. Most veggie patties are inexpensive, high in protein, and easy to prepare, which makes them ideal for quick-and-easy lunches. We’ve reviewed many of Morningstar Farms’ veggie burgers in the past, but surprisingly, we hadn’t tried the Morningstar Farms Garden Veggie Burgers prior to writing this review.
We occasionally run into problems when cooking veggie patties on the stove. Sometimes, following cooking instructions leaves us with a patty that’s slightly burned. We’re glad to say that we didn’t encounter that issue here. It took about seven minutes to heat our patty, and while it browned nicely, it didn’t burn at all.
Some veggie burgers try to imitate meat, but these patties just taste like veggies. These vegetarian burgers are made from a blend of whole grain oats, mushrooms, carrots, onions, and green bell peppers. This is a pretty basic patty that can be paired with all kinds of ingredients. We chose to serve it like a traditional burger, but we think it’d be even better in a hummus sandwich.
Texture can be a major issue with veggie patties. We’ve had an awful lot of burgers fall to pieces as we eat them. Thankfully, Morningstar Farms makes solid patties that don’t crumble when you take a bit. They do use egg to bind the patty, which means this isn’t a vegan dish.
The Morningstar Farms Garden Veggie Burgers aren’t anything fancy, but extravagance isn’t necessarily a quality we want in a veggie patty. These are basic, versatile patties that are made with healthy ingredients. Whether you serve these on a burger, in a sandwich, or as a topping for your salad, we think you’ll enjoy the flavor of these patties.
