At Freezer Meal Frenzy, we’ve always had a weakness for frozen burritos. Over the years, we’ve had the chance to sample all kinds of burritos, from breakfast burritos to fusion cuisine to burrito bowls. The Evol Plant-Based Veggie Burrito Bowl is exactly the type of product we gravitate towards. It’s loaded with veggies and protein, it’s easy to make, and for a frozen meal, it appears to be pretty healthy.
This burrito bowl needs to be thawed in the microwave, which is a pretty painless process. Just slit the film, toss the meal into the microwave for five to six minutes, then give it a few minutes to cool. As you can see from the image below, it doesn’t quite look like the dish on the box, but we promise it’ll look prettier after a good stir.
There’s a great blend of veggies here, including sweet potatoes, jalapeños, and red and yellow bell peppers. While a burrito bowl would normally be loaded with rice, this bowl is loaded with blanched riced cauliflower. The cauliflower has a slight sweetness to it, which pairs nicely with the tomatillo Verde sauce.
There’s a nice blend of textures here. Both the veggies and the cauliflower rice have a slight sweetness to them, while the black beans are nice and soft. Since there’s plenty of tomatillo sauce, you won’t have a single dry bite. Thanks to the beans, it’s a pretty hearty dish, but it’s also on the lighter side. This would be great for a light lunch or a good way to give your body some nutrients when you’re not that hungry.
Evol Plant-Based Veggie Burrito Bowl might not be the best option for people that like burritos loaded with ingredients like cheese, beef, and sour cream. However, this vegan dish is a healthy and appealing option. If you’re like us and love burritos and veggies, you’ll want to check this out.
