Good Food Made Simple Bacon & Eggs Flatbread Breakfast Sandwiches Review

Good Food Made Simple Bacon & Eggs Flatbread Breakfast Sandwiches

It’s been a little while since we tried anything from the Good Food Made Simple brand. It’s not that we don’t still enjoy their frozen foods occasionally; it’s just that the brand sort of fell of our radar for a little while.

Until our most recent trip to Target, that is. See, we stumbled upon the Good Food Made Simple Bacon & Eggs Flatbread Breakfast Sandwiches and were suddenly filled with memories, both good and bad, of our time spent reviewing the Good Food Made Simple line of frozen food. As we suspected, this flatbread sandwich duo was actually a new addition to the line, designed to complement the turkey sausage and power veggies versions of Good Food Made Simple’s breakfast sandwiches.

These are easy enough to heat in the microwave, and they take less than two minutes to cook. You could always use the toaster oven as well, but that will take quite a bit longer. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, check out the package scans at the bottom of this review.)

The flatbread itself comes out chewy and kind of rubbery. It’s not the most appealing consistency for flatbread, to be honest. We assume this would come out better in the toaster oven, but we didn’t have the patience to try it out. It’s really hard to resist the siren song of a 90-second cook time.

However, the flatbread itself is not really the important part of this breakfast. When you open it up, you’ll find a smattering of filling inside, and this is where the real flavor is.

As you can see in the image above, there’s a blend of eggs, potatoes, cheese, onions, and bacon bits. In our first bite, we thought the potatoes came through the strongest, but on subsequent bites, we found the bacon flavor moving toward the surface. In fact, by the time we were halfway done eating this, we were surprised by how much bacon flavor there is here. This has an overall smoky flavor that we find quite appealing.

Like the taste of the bacon, the cheese flavor also slowly emerges. Even though the cheese and bacon portions seem small when you look at the filling, the contribute a whole lot to the flavor of each sandwich.

One sandwich has 280 calories and 620 mg of sodium, and there are two sandwiches per box. We definitely think you could eat both in a sitting, though, as these are not very filling. Keep in mind that doubling up brings those numbers up to 560 calories and 1,230 mg of sodium.

The Good Food Made Simple Bacon & Eggs Flatbread Breakfast Sandwiches make for a decent breakfast-time snack rather than a full-fledged breakfast. They taste pretty decent, though the flatbread itself has a weird consistency. We actually think that all these ingredients would have worked better in a breakfast burrito. Good Food Made Simple does have breakfast burritos in their frozen food line, but none of them have this particular flavor combo. In fact, their Uncured Bacon Breakfast Burrito is probably the closest to this, yet it lacks the smoky bacon flavor that makes these flatbread sandwiches stand out.
