Exploring the freezer aisle at Trader Joe’s is a little bit like going on a treasure hunt. If you’re looking for frozen Indian food or Asian-style chicken or even some tasty burgers, you’ll find some wonderful stuff chilling at TJ’s. If you’re simply looking to satisfy a sweet tooth, there’s plenty of treats for you in the freezer aisle as well.
It’s that latter category we’re interested in today, as we’re checking out the Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Hold the Cone! Mini Ice Cream Cones. We’ve already tried the chocolate version, as well as the corn-filled savory version, but we wanted to give the chocolate chip one a try as well.
This is a simple treat, really. It’s just vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips, a chocolate cone, and chocolate dip. Yes, everything here is chocolate except for the ice cream.
But simple isn’t bad, especially when it means combining delicious vanilla ice cream with a whole bunch of chocolate. These may be small in size, but they’re big on sweet, chocolatey flavor.
There’s really not much to say about these other than that they’re very good. The cones do have a tendency to leave crumbs everywhere, but that’s just the nature of an ice cream cone and not a real complaint.
The serving size on the box is mighty generous, at three whole cones. If you stick with that, you’ll be consuming 280 calories and 100 mg of sodium. That’s pretty respectable for a frozen dessert. In fact, even if you’re on a diet, you could probably sneak one of these as a snack and still stay under your calorie limit for the day.
The Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Hold the Cone! Mini Ice Cream Cones are incredible. They taste great, they’re low in calories, and they’ll let you soothe a sweet tooth with very little guilt. As long as you enjoy ice cream (and really, who doesn’t?), you’ll find plenty to love here.
