We eat a lot of macaroni, plenty of spaghetti, and a fair amount of ravioli, but fiocchetti is a pasta we aren’t that familiar with. Thankfully, the Freezer Meal Frenzy staffers aren’t carb averse. When we spotted the Trader Joe’s Cheese-Filled Fiocchetti with Pink Sauce, we knew we had to check it out.
This frozen dish can be made on the stove or in the microwave. The microwave definitely seems like the faster option, but we opted to follow the stovetop instructions. It took about ten minutes to finish cooking our pasta, and we didn’t have to do much more than give it the occasional stir. The sauce was a little thin when we took it out of the pan, but it gradually thickened up.
As you might be able to tell, this is a pretty cheesy dish! The pasta is stuffed with taleggio cheese, and it’s immersed in a creamy pink sauce. We’re not totally new to pink sauce, but it’s not something we eat a lot of either. Both the sauce and the pasta here are simple, but solid. This dish is tasty on its own, but it’s also something you could easily doctor and make your own.
This pasta is very hearty, but it doesn’t contain any sort of protein. If you combined it with some veggies and sausage, or even some Trader Joe’s Sausage-less Sausage, you could probably stretch it into three meals. As is, however, we’d say there are about one and a half servings here.
The Trader Joe’s Cheese-Filled Fiocchetti with Pink Sauce is a simple but solid frozen pasta that can be customized in a variety of ways.
