We’ve been having a bit of a pumpkin party in the Freezer Meal Frenzy office this week. See, we decided to publish an extra review per day this week, allowing us to stray from the frozen food path a bit and dive into the Trader Joe’s fall lineup (don’t worry, we did publish a frozen food review earlier today to balance things out). We started with the Gobbler Quesadilla (found in the refrigerated section) on Monday, and now we’re looking to sample the Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Batons.
This treat is sort of a spinoff of the Trader Joe’s Cocoa Batons. While we haven’t tried the Cocoa Batons, we can say with confidence that the pumpkin version makes for a tasty, tasty seasonal treat.
These come in a cardboard can, sort of like Pringles chips. Once you pop off the top, though, there’s a sealed wrap that you’ll have to cut open to get at these pumpkin sticks. Some of ours were broken before we ever got the package open, but we’re not all that concerned about it.
What we are concerned about, however, is flavor, and these skinny snacks really deliver in that department. On the outside, you have a pretty nondescript wafer shell (pretty similar, in fact, to the PB & J Snack Duo). On the inside, however, is where the party really happens. In the center of each stick is a creamy pumpkin spice filling. It’s incredibly sweet, making it a great contrast to the wafer shells. Plus, these would probably be great to dip in a hot cup of coffee.
If you’re worried about calories, these might still be up your alley, though you’ll have to practice moderation. Each baton contains 60 calories, so you can probably justify one or two, even if you’re on a diet.
The Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Batons are an incredibly craveable dessert that pairs well with a cup of coffee. They can really sweeten up a beautiful autumn morning, so you’d better scoop them up while you have the chance.
