Jimmy Dean Delights Spinach & Bacon Breakfast Wraps Review

Jimmy Dean Delights Spinach & Bacon Breakfast Wraps

The Jimmy Dean line of frozen breakfast foods doesn’t contain any vegetarian-friendly items that we’re aware of. When we spotted their new spinach wraps, we thought we’d found an exception… until we saw the word Bacon in the title. So our vegetarian friends still won’t be joining us in tasting the many offerings of Jimmy Dean.

But the show must go on regardless, and our carnivorous staffers (or omnivorous staffers, more aptly) are checking out the Jimmy Dean Delights Spinach & Bacon Breakfast Wraps today to see what they’re all about.

These are simple enough to heat up in any old microwave. Peel away the wrapper, then wrap the contents in a paper towel. Pop it into the microwave for a minute and a half and you should be good to go. That’s really all there is to it.

If you’re worried these might taste overwhelmingly like spinach, fret not. While there is an unmistakable spinach flavor here, it sort of lingers in the background. In fact, the bacon, despite a pretty skimpy portion size, contributes more to the flavor profile than the spinach does.

The bulk of the flavor, however, comes from the creamy white cheddar sauce. It tastes pretty good at first, but there is kind of a burnt aftertaste that lingers for a bit afterward. That’s a little bit of a bummer, though it’s our only real complaint about how these taste.

And, of course, the whole shebang is wrapped in a wheat wrap, which has just enough flavor to distinctly not be your average white flour wrap. That’s a good thing.

The box contains four wraps, but it politely suggests that you eat only one at a time. If you listen to this advice, you’ll be consuming 310 calories (130 from fat) and 710 mg of sodium. That’s pretty close to what you’d expect from a full Lean Cuisine frozen meal, so keep that in mind if you decide to go back for seconds. And, well, you probably will want to go back, because these aren’t very filling.

The Jimmy Dean Delights Spinach & Bacon Breakfast Wraps have a weird aftertaste, but aside from that they’re actually pretty good. We do wish that aftertaste weren’t there, and while we’re at it, we’ll toss in another wish that these were a little lower in calories and sodium. However, as a super-quick breakfast item, they’ll do the trick.
