Pad Thai is one of our go-to takeout orders. The dish is designed to ignite all five tastes — salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter — which makes it uniquely satisfying. We’re not sure that the Saffron Road Vegetable Pad Thai measures up to our favorite Thai restaurants, but it is quick, easy, and tasty.
It takes around five minutes to heat this dish up, which means it’s a great option for work lunches. We didn’t have any issues with our noodles sticking together, and our meal was cool enough to eat pretty quickly. While we chose to make this in the microwave, you can heat this in the oven instead if you’re patient. According to the instructions, it can be prepared in around 45 to 50 minutes.
As you might be able to tell from the image above, there’s a lot of food packed into this plastic tray. We actually had a little bit of trouble stirring our noodles well enough to evenly coat them with the peanut sauce. If you don’t mind doing some dishes, we’d recommend transferring this to a larger container before you eat.
This is definitely a flavorful meal, but we’re not sure all five tastes are present here! The peanut sauce is mild, with a nice appealing sweetness to it. The dish isn’t really spicy at all. There are some nice textures at play here, including chewy chunks of tofu, crunchy peanuts, and crisp chunks of carrots.
The Saffron Road Vegetable Pad Thai may not be able to compare to a dish from your favorite restaurant, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an appealing and satisfying meal. While we would have loved a little more spice, this dish is also a great option for diners that have a low tolerance for spicy foods. If you’re in the mood for a good peanut dish, this is a handy meal to have in your freezer!
