Annie’s Organic Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream Mini Sandwiches Review

Annie's Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream Mini Sandwiches

If you’re familiar with the Annie’s brand at all, it’s likely that you know them for their boxed macaroni and cheese. But you might have noticed that Annie’s is starting to push into the freezer aisle. They’ve recently added some frozen mac and cheese options to their lineup.

We unfortunately weren’t able to find any of their frozen macaroni quite yet (we’ll keep looking though), but we did manage to nab a box of Annie’s Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream Mini Sandwiches. Since these very much count as a frozen food, we wanted to give them the Freezer Meal Frenzy welcome.

The filling here is excellent. It’s super creamy and richer than we expected. It’s incredibly sweet, so it might turn away those looking for a more subtle flavor, but we really enjoy it.

There are cookie chips inside the ice cream as well, but we’re honestly not sure how much of an impact this has on the overall flavor. Since the top and bottom of each sandwich are made from a chocolatey cookie-like substance, the cookie chips inside the ice cream get a little lost in the mix.

The cookie shell is a little chalky tasting and nowhere near as rich as the filling. It’s not awful by any means, but we were hoping for something just a little higher in quality. It’s also soggier than we’d like. Of course, there is a cute bunny etched into each one, and we do like that.

According to the box, two sandwiches is actually a serving size. Now, we can tell we’re getting older here, as our response to this was, “Who would need to eat more than one?” rather than “Who would only eat two?”

That said, one sandwich contains 110 calories and 85 mg of sodium, meaning the two-sandwich serving contains 220 calories and 170 mg of sodium. For a sweet ice-cream-filled dessert, those numbers really aren’t bad.

The Annie’s Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream Mini Sandwiches are quite good. The cookie pieces aren’t the best we’ve ever had, but the rich, creamy filling more than makes up for it. We first tried these on a very cold day (it was -8 Fahrenheit here earlier), but we think these would be great when the summer heat is toasty hot and you need a cold snack to help you cool off in the shade.
