Tyson Batter Dipped Chicken Breast Tenders Review

Tyson Batter Dipped Chicken Breast Tenders

Tyson is a producer of frozen processed chicken, and their offerings tend to be a bit higher in quality than those of their competitors. We occasionally find duds among this line (which is inevitable for pretty much any frozen food brand), but for the most part, we’ve really enjoyed their frozen chicken.

So today we’re excited to be checking out the Tyson Batter Dipped Chicken Breast Tenders today, which offer a slightly different take on the classic chicken nugget. So let’s dig in!

These are easy enough to cook. Simply preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, place some tenders on a baking sheet, then pop them in for 12 to 15 minutes. Our batch was audibly sizzling by the 11-minute mark, so we took ours out a minute early.

Note that the package also includes microwave instructions, but we thought the oven would produce better results, so that’s the method we used for these. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the bag, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

These come out a bit greasy to the touch, so you’ll either want to use a fork or have some napkins on hand. The outer layer does end up with a lovely crisp to it, though.

So, we compared these to chicken nuggets earlier, and that’s probably not an entirely fair comparison. These are batter-dipped, which means the outer shell is thinner and crispier than a traditional nugget’s breading. The shell also has a deep-fried taste to it that you won’t usually find with regular nuggets.

The chicken inside does not disappoint. This is a high-quality white meat chicken with rib meat, which means it’s juicy and has a decent amount of flavor. The flavor here is more of a platform for the batter and whatever dipping sauce you decide to use here, though. As such, it excels, providing just enough flavor to check off that ol’ chicken box without getting in the way of those toppings.

We tried these with both honey mustard and honey BBQ sauce, and both were good options. We did like the BBQ sauce slightly more, though.

The bag considers four tenders to be a serving, though that might be a little bit small unless you’re eating these as a snack. Four tenders contain 190 calories (100 from fat) and 420 mg of sodium, so you can probably afford to eat a couple extra. For the sake of this review, our reviewer ate a batch of seven.

The Tyson Batter Dipped Chicken Breast Tenders provide a lovely alternative to chicken nuggets. The crispier, more deep-fried tasting batter shell does satisfy a particular craving, and the chicken inside is top-notch. Of course, these are much better with a good dipping sauce.
