DiGiorno Meatless Monday Meatless Sausage Supreme Pizza Review

DiGiorno Meatless Monday Meatless Sausage Supreme Pizza

DiGiorno and Sweet Earth are two of the many frozen food makers that we follow. So when we found out the two had teamed up to create the Meatless Mondays pizzas, we knew we had to find out what these were all about. And best of all, we’re publishing this review on a Monday! How appropriate!

So today we’re looking into the DiGiorno Meatless Monday Meatless Sausage Supreme Pizza, which features meatless sausage made by Sweet Earth. We’re pretty excited to chow this thing down!

But first, we must cook it. This is no more difficult to cook than any other DiGiorno pizza. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, then pop in the pizza for 17 to 19 minutes. The instructions say to place it directly on the oven rack, but we used a banking sheet for ours, as we always do. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the back of the box, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

So how is that Sweet Earth sausage? Well, it’s really strange, and we’re not sure we like it. We had two reviewers share this, and their opinions were opposites. One thought it tasted strongly of black licorice for some reason, while the other thought it was pretty decent. Either way, your carnivorous friends will not be fooled into thinking this is authentic sausage. We’ve definitely had better takes on faux sausage before.

The rest of the pizza is classic DiGiorno. It’s got that familiar hand-tossed crust and that slightly sweet tomato sauce we’ve come to expect from the brand. Add to that green and red bell peppers, onions, and a decent covering of mozzarella cheese (though not anywhere near what you’d expect from a Lotzza Motzza pizza).

We probably don’t need to say this, but this isn’t a diet food. One quarter of the pizza contains 300 calories and 750 mg of sodium, which means the more likely serving size of half a pizza contains 600 calories and 1,500 mg of sodium. While we do eat a ton of frozen pizza here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, we do advise caution. This is more of a cheat day treat than a regular meal.

The DiGiorno Meatless Monday Meatless Sausage Supreme Pizza is good because it’s a DiGiorno pizza, but the Sweet Earth sausage doesn’t add anything. In fact, we think we’d have preferred this pizza without it. While we appreciate the attempt at providing a vegetarian-friendly version of a supreme pizza, this one misses the mark for us a bit.
