Aldi Bremer Pepperoni Pizza Hot Stuffed Sandwiches Review

Bremer Pepperoni Pizza Hot Stuffed Sandwiches

We’ve very recently started exploring the frozen food selection at Aldi. Our first foray into their many frozen brands was a Mama Cozzi’s pizza. Well, we’re not going to stray too far from that theme quite yet, as today we’re taking a look at the Bremer Pepperoni Pizza Hot Stuffed Sandwiches. Yes, we’re following up a pepperoni pizza review with a pepperoni pizza sandwich review.

Bremer, it would seem, is one of Aldi’s main frozen food brands, with a whole lot of variety in that line. We’ll get to their non-pizza-realted items eventually, but today we had a hankerin’ for more pizza, and these pizza pockets seem like the next best thing.

These are a cinch to cook. Each pizza pocket comes in its own little pouch. Simply open one end of that pouch and pop the thing into the microwave for about two minutes. You can also use the oven if you’d like, but we just nuked ours. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, check out the package scan at the bottom of this review.)

Sometimes, when you cut open a product like this, you’ll end up finding a whole lot of empty space inside. That’s not the case here, as you can clearly see in the image below.

A majority of that filling is a basic tomato paste, but you’ll also find gobs of gooey mozzarella and pieces of pepperoni in the mix as well. The cheese is impressively melty and stretchy, and it has a great flavor to it. It also lends the whole affair a bit of creaminess that brings the sandwich together. The peperoni is somewhat sparse, but when you actually do find a piece it’s soft and pleasant-tasting.

The shell is decent. It’s not amazing, and it’s a little softer than we were hoping for — it almost feels undercooked. It also tastes a little crackery. Even so, it’s not terrible and it keeps the filling packed pretty neatly inside. We were expecting these to be a bit more of a mess than they actually are, but everything seems to stay in place nicely.

If you just eat one pizza pocket, you’re looking at 320 calories and 540 mg of sodium. If you decide to eat both, you’re up to 630 calories and 1,090 mg of sodium. While we don’t advise you to eat both at once, we do have to admit that these aren’t super filling. Eating two in a sitting wouldn’t be a big task.

The Bremer Pepperoni Pizza Hot Stuffed Sandwiches by Aldi are a pair of pretty decent pizza pockets. No, they’re not perfect, but they make for a great quick snack that can be prepared in minutes. The calorie count might be a little high for dieters, though, so you’ll want to consider that before you toss a box of these into your shopping cart.
