Sandwich Bros. Egg White with Cheese & Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches Review

Sandwich Bros. Egg White with Cheese & Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches

Freezer Meal Frenzy is located in Minnesota, which means we have a lot of friends from Wisconsin. So we can confirm that the rumors are true: Wisconsinites sure do love their cheese!

But cheese isn’t the only good thing to come out of Wisconsin. If you need some evidence of this, just take the Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin brand of frozen sandwiches. We’ve really enjoyed reviewing these frozen flatbread sandwiches in the past, and now that Target seems to be carrying them (at least for the time being), we’re happy to finally be able to find some of the options we’d been unable to locate previously. Yes, even though we’re less than an hour from the Wisconsin border, we’ve been having a little bit of a struggle finding Sandwich Bros. products.

We spotted the Sandwich Bros. Egg White with Cheese & Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches in the frozen breakfast section of our local Super Target store, and we’re very happy to be checking them out today. This actually seems like a combination of the Egg & Cheese Sandwiches and the Sausage & Cheese Sandwiches.

One of the things we love about these sandwiches is that they’re super, super easy to cook. Simply wrap one in a paper towel and toss it into the microwave for about 90 seconds. These make for a super convenient, super quick breakfast.

Right away, we noticed that these are a bit thicker than the other Sandwich Bros. products we’ve tried. That’s because everything else we’ve tried has been either meat and cheese or egg and cheese — these ones are meat, egg, and cheese all in the same sandwich.

The sausage does the bulk of the work in the flavor department. While a lot of frozen turkey sausage can end up super rubbery, this batch manages the freezing and reheating process pretty well. There is just a tiny bit of that rubbery consistency to it, but it’s nowhere near enough to diminish the overall quality of the sandwich. And really, it’s the flavor that matters here. That flavor is fantastic. It’s maybe a little salty, but it packs a tasty punch and manages to be the star of this sandwich show.

The egg portion here is egg white rather than the yellow scrambled egg of the Egg & Cheese Sandwiches. It doesn’t have a ton of natural flavor and it’s a little bit more watery than yellow egg, but neither of these things matter when the sausage carries the flavor (and constancy) of the sandwich. The egg portion is really just there to provide some support, and it knows when to stay out of the way.

Because you’ve got both meat and egg here, the cheese portion is smaller in comparison. That’s a little too bad, because the little bit of cheese that’s here adds some nice cheddary undertones. But then again, it’s the turkey sausage that’s important here — the cheese is just a nice little bonus.

One of these sandwiches has 150 calories and 520 mg of sodium. That means you can probably cook up two of them for breakfast, though that sodium is a bit high for double-duty sandwich dudes. But the calorie count is low enough that you can easily justify the two-sandwich lifestyle.

The Sandwich Bros. Egg White with Cheese & Turkey Sausage Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches are a great way to start the day. The turkey sausage does all the heavy lifting here, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing — it’s a really good turkey sausage after all. Pair a couple of these with a cup of coffee and you’re on your way to a fantastic morning!
