Trader Joe’s Vegan Cookies & Creme Vanilla Bean Bon Bons Review

Trader Joe's Vegan Cookies & Creme Vanilla Bean Bon Bons

It’s been a hot summer, but Trader Joe’s has really been keeping us cool with their ever-expanding selection of ice-cold treats. Thankfully, we haven’t run out of options quite yet, as we’ve still yet to try the Trader Joe’s Vegan Cookies & Creme Vanilla Bean Bon Bons. If you couldn’t already tell from the title or image above, we’re addressing this today and giving these bon bons a much-anticipated taste test.

As you can see in the image below, these come six per box, and they’re neatly packed into a recyclable tray. One of our reviewers called this a collector’s tray for some reason (we didn’t ask what this person plans on collecting here, but now we’re picturing little plastic dinosaurs, which seem like they’d probably be a decent fit).

The big draw here, of course, isn’t the tray — it’s what’s inside. These are designed to be vegan-friendly, replacing the traditional ice cream with a coconut-based version. Not only does this combination simply work, but it adds a delightful zing to the overall flavor. These end up with a pretty rich coconut flavor to them, so if you’re a fan of coconut, you’ll really like these.

Some cookies and cream options will just include skimpy little flecks of cookies in the mix, but these bon bons go all out. Just look at this:

There are big chunks of cookies inside, and they’re quite tasty. Of course, the coconut flavor of the ice cream substitute mostly overpowers the cookie flavor, but whenever a bit of cookie comes up to the surface, it’s still a lovely experience.

All of that comes with a chocolate shell, which is delightfully sweet and satisfying to bite into.

Now that bad news. A single bon bon is a serving, and you could easily gobble up at least two in a sitting. If you can control yourself enough to eat just one bon bon, you’re looking at 110 calories. If you chomp down the whole tray, you’re up to 630. You’ll definitely need to be careful with these.

The Trader Joe’s Vegan Cookies & Creme Vanilla Bean Bon Bons are a real home run, and because of the coconut milk, we can share these treats with our vegan and vegetarian friends. Let’s be real here, we probably wont — these are just too delicious — but it’s nice to think that we could if we wanted to, right?
