Lotzza Motzza Supreme Pizza Review

Lotzza Motzza Supreme Pizza

We were going through our Lotzza Motzza pizza reviews the other day, and we made a shocking discovery — and boy, do we mean shocking! As it turns out, in all of our excitement and enthusiasm for the Lotzza Motzza line (which is a subsection of the Brew Pub brand, which it itself is a sub-brand off of Bernatello’s), we’d somehow missed one of the essential items in this line.

That’s right, folks, today we’re correcting an oversight and checking out the Lotzza Motzza Supreme Pizza. We’re extremely happy to be doing this, because we’re huge fans of the brand.

Okay, so we do have to make a confession here. We actually did review the nine-inch version of this same pizza, A.K.A. the “Micro Brew” version. We’ve also reviewed the Hearty Artisan Crust version. But we haven’t ever reviewed the full shebang, the twelve-inch, pub-style Lotzza Motzza version. So that’s what we’re doing now.

If you’ve ever cooked a frozen pizza before, this one’s certainly not going to give you any problems. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, then pop in the pizza for 20 to 25 minutes. We generally find 21 minutes to be the sweet spot. Also, the instructions say to place the pizza directly on the center oven rack, but we always use a baking sheet and our pizzas come out pretty okay. One thing you might notice in our photos is that this pizza made a bit of a mess. We tried to contain the gargantuan river of sauce here, but it proved too much for us. So yeah, this pizza can get pretty messy. But that’s honestly the worst thing about this (aside from the nutritional content, which will get to later). This is a fantastic pizza pie.

That sauce that caused us all that mess? It’s incredible. It’s a spicy, semi-sweet tomato affair that complements the rest of the pizza nicely. And that cheese? Chef’s kiss. Lotzza Motzza understands their branding well enough to not mess up this part. They consistently deliver gobs of oh-so-gooey mozzarella cheese, and this pizza is no exception.

Of course, with all that cheese, and all that sauce, the “supreme” part of the pizza gets kind of lost. This does contain sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and green and red bell peppers, but those things are a bit sparse. We would have especially loved more mushrooms here, and Lotzza Motzza’s sausage tends to be pretty lovely, so more of that would have been great. Quality is not an issue here, but quantity is.

Then again, this pizza excels in the way that matters most, by combining a pub-stye crust with delicious sauce and way more cheese than should probably be on a pizza. And that’s what we find so craveworthy about Lotzza Motzza’s offerings. That’s what keeps us coming back.

Lotzza Motzza does this weird thing where they consider 1/5 of the pizza to be a serving size. We’ve said this before, but 1/5 of a pizza isn’t really a thing. Just think about it. When you cut this, your first cut will cut it into halves. Then the next cut will slice it into quarters. From there, two more cuts will give you eight slices. We think this is probably the normal way to cut a round pizza.

But if you somehow figure out the geometry of a fifth of a pizza, and you successfully pull off your cuts, you’ll be eating 340 calories and 790 mg of sodium. So let’s do some quick math. A full pizza contains 1,700 calories and 3,950 mg of sodium, so half a pizza contains 850 calories and 1,975 mg of sodium. Do with that information what you will.

The Lotzza Motzza Supreme Pizza is a no-brainer. If you like pizza at all, you’re going to love this. This is a true classic, and Lotzza Motzza has the chops to pull it off brilliantly. No, it’s not good for dieters, but sometimes you just need to indulge in the finer things in life. And this pizza is one of those finer things.
