Banquet Chicken Nuggets Review

Banquet Chicken Nuggets

Banquet seems to specialize in classic-style frozen meals. You know, the stuff you toss into the microwave for four minutes to cook up a full meal. But it seems that Banquet is also in the business of making chicken nuggets. And we don’t just mean chicken dinner combos; we mean big ol’ bags of the stuff, similar to what Tyson does.

So today we’re licking our chops as we prepare ourselves to chomp the Banquet Chicken Nuggets, which come in a 2 lb. bag. What a hefty sack o’ nuggets, huh? We should point out that these are the “original” nuggets, as opposed to their chicken breast nuggets, which are almost the same but slightly different (as far as we can tell).

Cooking these is pretty easy, whether you use the oven, an air fryer, or a microwave. For this review, we used the conventional oven, which is how we usually like to cook our chicken nuggets. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the bag, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

Banquet Chicken Nuggets

Now, we’ve had some pretty disappointing chicken from Banquet, so we were not sure how they’d pull off chicken nuggets. And we have to say, these really surprised us. These are more than just competent; they’re downright delicious. In fact, these are some of the best nuggets we’ve had in a while.

The chicken is maybe a little too soft, so it melts in your mouth more than you’d expect for a chicken nugget. Not everyone is going to be a fan of this, but we really like it. And the flavor is excellent. Nugget chicken is usually just alright, but this stuff is really good. Is that the slightest hint of lemon that we taste? Maybe it’s our imaginations, but there’s just something super tasty about this chicken.

And the breading is great too. It has a really great flavor, perhaps a result of being fried in vegetable oil? Whatever it is, this stuff is delicious.

In fact, we had bought some new BBQ sauce specifically for these nuggets, and we didn’t even end up using it. These taste just too darn good without it!

According to the package, five nuggets is a serving, and there should be about ten servings in a bag. If you stick with just five nuggets, you’ll be consuming 230 calories and 490 mg of sodium. We should point out that this is a pretty small serving size, and we ended up eating about twice that amount — and then we put five more into the oven and ate those. So those numbers appear small, but they represent a teensy tiny serving size.

The Banquet Chicken Nuggets are way better than we were expecting them to be. We’re not sure what Banquet did to make these so delicious, but we could actually see these becoming our go-to chicken nuggets. They’re just so tasty and wonderful, and we absolutely love them.
