Lean Cuisine Protein Kick Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli Review

Lean Cuisine Protein Kick Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli

Hello, ravioli, our old friend.

Back when we reviewed the Lean Cuisine Features Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli, we weren’t confident that it would remain in the Features line. See, that was our third time reviewing that meal — before that, we had reviewed it when it was part of the Marketplace line, and again when it was part of the Origins line. This meal really gets around, doesn’t it?

Well, we were correct that it hasn’t stopped its constant rebranding quite yet. As it turns out, we just found it in Lean Cuisine’s new Protein Kick line. So once again, we are reviewing the Lean Cuisine Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli.

Cooking this is simple: Pop it into the microwave for three and a half minutes, give it a little stir, then pop it back in for another minute and 30 seconds. That’s all there is to it. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, check out the package scans at the bottom of this review.)

Now, there were some changes made to this meal as it was shuffled from line to line, but we’re pretty sure the one we’re reviewing today is just the Features version in a new box. That version uses a bigger pasta size, but overall goes with a smaller portion size than previous versions of the meal. This is not a big portion — we had six pieces of ravioli in our entire meal.

But the flavor is still great. The sauce is a sweeter, kind-of-sugary affair, but we’ve always loved that about this ravioli. It serves as a nice contrast for the earthy spinach or the slightly sour taste of the ricotta cheese. Then again, there really isn’t a ton of spinach or ricotta, so…

This has a low, low 250 calories and a medium-low 660 mg of sodium. That’s not too bad for a frozen meal, but again, this is the smaller version of this meal, and it’s really not that filling. You’ll probably need to add a salad or a snack if you plan on making this a lunch.

The Lean Cuisine Protein Kick Ricotta Cheese & Spinach Ravioli is still a great-tasting meal, but we can’t help but be a little disappointed by how small it is. At this point, we feel like we could probably eat two of these in a sitting without feeling like we’d made a mistake. This just isn’t a lot of food.
