Amy’s Light & Lean Sweet & Sour Asian Noodle Review

Amy's Light & Lean Sweet & Sour Asian Noodle

For the frozen food fan who’s looking to cut some calories, Amy’s Kitchen has created a Light & Lean line of their popular, vegetarian-friendly meals. While the Meatless Swedish Meatballs are kind of a bust, their Sweet & Sour Asian Noodle dish is quite alright.

Now, don’t let the image on the box fool you; this meal isn’t loaded with noodles. In fact, we’d say it’s about 40% vegetables, but that’s the price you pay for a low-calorie noodle dish.

The majority of that vegetable content is broccoli, which is good because it’s nice and juicy and tastes surprisingly good for a frozen broccoli. There are also carrots, green beans, cabbage, and bell peppers, but none of them have as much flavor as the broccoli. The organic tofu has a good texture — soft but not soggy — but it also tastes a little bland on its own.

Thankfully, the sweet and sour sauce carries the bulk of the flavor. It tastes great and covers every bite of this meal. The noodles are organic and gluten free, so that’s another big plus.

Amy’s Light & Lean Sweet & Sour Asian Noodle dish is a pretty good choice for anyone looking for a noodle dish that’s not more than 250 calories.
