Smart Ones Cheesy Scramble with Hash Browns Review

Smart Ones Cheesy Scramble with Hash Browns

We love a good breakfast scramble here at Freezer Meal Frenzy. For example, some of Amy’s Kitchen’s scrambles are among our favorite frozen foods. So we were pretty excited to have a chance to check out the Smart Ones Cheesy Scramble with Hash Browns.

This is a low-calorie dish, at only 210 calories, so it has the potential to be great for dieters. As a Weight Watchers product, the SmartPoints value ins printed right on the side of the box. This meal is worth 6 SmartPoints.

This breakfast scramble has a very short cook time, which we really appreciate when our stomachs are growling in the morning. Simply toss the scramble into the microwave, cook for two minutes, stir a little bit, and cook for another minute. Easy peasy.

Regrettably, the meal itself isn’t very impressive.

The food is serviceable; the eggs aren’t rubbery and the potatoes taste somewhat fresh. That said, everything here is seriously lacking in flavor. The eggs are pretty much flavorless — these are the same egg whites dyed yellow that Smart Ones uses in their Ham and Cheese Scramble, and they don’t taste any better here. There’s a thin layer of cheese over the top of them, which adds just a tiny bit of flavor. The potatoes don’t taste like they were seasoned at all.

Although the box showcases an array of vegetables, we only tasted egg whites, cheese, and potatoes. While there were supposedly bell peppers in the mix, we only found a couple small pieces and they weren’t enough to save this meal.

If you’ve been craving eggs and potatoes — and you’ve been looking for a way to indulge your cravings without breaking your diet — you may want to give this meal a closer look. However, if you’re expecting an indulgent, savory breakfast, this meal is going to disappoint.

Simply put, Smart Ones’ Cheesy Scramble with Hash Browns is bland, boring meal that doesn’t live up to its promises.  If you’re still going to try this despite our warnings, we recommend adding some seasoning before you dig in — this meal could definitely use a flavor upgrade.

I agree about the cooking time and it has real ingredients with proper texture. However, I totally disagree about taste. It was de-li-cious. Even had salt and pepper on it so work spaces only need offer a microwave and you are set.

Worst meal ever. Everything was all mixed up, not like picture. These are not hash browns they are just cut up potatoes. Even I can cook better than this, and since I am the worst cook, that tells you how bad this meal is. I took a couple bites and thew the rest out. Will never buy from this company again.
