We don’t envy anyone whose job it is to create frozen stir fry dishes. Though we’ve found exceptions, it’s a prospect that typically doesn’t work out very well. Even so, we’re huge fans of Korean food at Freezer Meal Frenzy, so we went into the Eat! Bim Bap Korean Inspired Chicken with optimism.
Unfortunately, this dish just isn’t very good. The sauce, which is a major component of this meal, has the hint of a decent flavor hiding inside somewhere, but that is buried beneath that freezer burn taste that taints much of the frozen stir fry on the market. It does have a little bit of spice to it, but that doesn’t do enough to make up for the bad taste that will linger long after you’ve swallowed the last bite.
To make things even worse, the chicken is crumbly and dry, and the rice doesn’t have a very good texture to it.
There is one big surprise hidden in this dish, however. The bits of baby corn are incredible. They have a sort of fresh-off-the-stalk, corn-on-the-cob vibe to them, which we really enjoyed. We’re very curious about the secret to making baby corn taste this rich and flavorful.
Of course, the amazing baby corn isn’t enough to save this Korean Inspired Chicken, so it’s a dish that’s probably best avoided.
