Frozen waffles may not be the most exciting breakfast dish, but they’re still a tasty, fuss-free morning option. Kashi has decided to spice up this classic dish by adding a few ingredients you wouldn’t find in your standard waffle. Kashi Golden Goodness Gluten-Free Waffles include plenty of ingredients you’d never find in an Eggo, including ginger, turmeric, and quinoa.
The Freezer Meal Frenzy offices don’t have a toaster, but we’ve never let that slow us down. We simply tossed these waffles into our trusty toaster oven until they were nice and crispy. Because these waffles are slightly darker than your standard frozen waffle, it can be tricky to tell when they’re heated through. Watch the time and make sure you don’t burn your waffles!
We’re not always thrilled with the texture of gluten-free waffles, but these waffles had the perfect level crispiness to them. We never would have guessed that they were gluten-free if that wasn’t mentioned on the box. Because these waffles are heavily seasoned, it’s possible to eat them without any syrup. We couldn’t really taste the sweet potato or turmeric, but it’s hard to miss the ginger.
Although they’re loaded with seasonings, these waffles still taste pretty good when slathered in maple syrup. That said, Kashi isn’t reinventing the wheel even with all the extra ingredients. These really just taste like basic frozen waffles that have been seasoned with ginger. They’re a great option if you’re avoided gluten, or if you’re craving ginger, but they’re probably not going to blow you away.
It’s hard to mess up a frozen waffle too badly. Even a so-so waffle is going to taste great when it’s covered in maple syrup. Kashi Golden Goodness Gluten-Free Waffles aren’t remarkable, in spite of their superfood ingredients. Still, they’re an easy and appealing breakfast treat.
