Boca Original Vegan Veggie Burgers Review

Boca Original Vegan Veggie Burgers

Boca Foods has been making veggie burgers since the 1970s. Since they have decades of experience under their belts, we assume they’ve figured out how to make a tasty veggie patty. We decided to try the Boca Original Vegan Veggie Burgers to see if Boca had cracked the veggie burger code.

These patties are individually wrapped, which means it’s easy to cook just one at a time. Although Boca provides microwave instructions, they suggest cooking the patty on the stovetop, which is what we did. Boca suggests cooking the patty for between eight and 10 minutes, but our patty was fully cooked after about six minutes.

As you might be able to tell from the image above, the actual cooked patty is slightly darker than the one pictured on the box. Some veggie patties start to fall apart when you transfer them from pan to plate, but that wasn’t an issue here. It was a breeze to build a full burger.

As is the case with most veggie burgers, these patties aren’t going to fool meat-eaters. Neither the taste or texture is similar to ground beef. In fact, this doesn’t have a strong flavor at all. There’s a slightly smoky taste to the patties, but it isn’t overwhelming. If you stuff this patty in your burger, you’ll mostly be tasting your bun and condiments.

Even though this patty is a little bit plain, we still think it’s a pretty solid veggie burger. We really like the texture — it’s soft, yet solid, and it doesn’t far apart as you eat. Since there are no strong flavors here, you can serve this burger in any way you like. We topped ours with cheese, ketchup, mustard, and lettuce, but you could pair it with all kinds of toppings, including salsa, egg, or barbecue sauce. It’s a blank canvas for the veggie burger of your dreams.

The Boca Original Vegan Veggie Burgers are a great option if you’re looking for a basic veggie patty that’s easy to prepare. There’s nothing special about this burger, but there’s nothing off-putting either. If you want a gourmet veggie burger, there are better options. If you want something simple, this is a solid choice.

I just had my first frozen Boca burger. Agree with your assessment completely. I put guacamole on my burger, along with pickles and bun. It was great, but was tasting guac and pickles only.
