Rice has an incredible history: it’s the oldest known food that we still eat today.
While rice is a meal staple — and has been for a very, very long time — it can be a pain to prepare, especially when you don’t have a rice cooker. That’s why we appreciate easy microwavable options like the InnovAsian Sizzling Garlic Rice.
Preparing this rice couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is open up the box, take out the plastic bag, and microwave it for five minutes. The bag even tells you which side should face up. Since this is such a breeze to cook, you could easily heat it up while you prepare a side dish. (We paired this with the Gardein Mandarin Orange Crispy Chik’n and some edamame!)
We’re not sure about the “sizzling,” but InnovAsian really isn’t kidding about the “garlic” part. The package says that this has a hint of garlic, but the garlic flavor borders on overwhelming. You can expect your entire kitchen to smell like garlic after you heat this up.
As long as you’re a fan of garlic, however, there’s a lot to like about this rice. The texture is absolutely perfect. We’d never guess that it was microwaved if we’d not have made it ourselves. It also reheats well. It was delicious when it was fresh out of the microwave, but it might have been even tastier when we heated it up on the stove the next day.
The InnovAsian Sizzling Garlic Rice definitely isn’t for garlic haters. If you don’t mind the strong garlic flavor, however, there’s a lot to love about this high-quality frozen rice. Of course, if you’re not a big fan of garlic, we’d recommend that you check out InnovAsian’s vegetable fried rice instead.
