It’s rare for Amy’s Kitchen to let us down completely. Even when we don’t love an Amy’s dish, we usually appreciate the fresh, organic ingredients. However, Amy’s Veggie Loaf is a failure in every sense. There’s nothing to like about this vegetarian take on meatloaf.
The veggie loaf itself is definitely the worst part of this meal. It’s extremely dry, even though it’s slathered in a thick, syrupy sauce. We’re not sure what’s in this sauce, but it’s a bitter, salty, sticky mess. Yet the pungent sauce isn’t enough to mask the lack of flavor in the veggie loaf. Even when it’s covered in the disgusting sauce, the loaf is virtually tasteless.
Tasteless is also a good adjective to describe the mashed potatoes, which feel like they were made from flakes. Real mashed potatoes are rich and creamy, but this doesn’t taste like it was made with potatoes at all. We know Amy’s uses fresh ingredients, but something clearly went wrong here.
The jury is out on the blend of corn and peas. One of our staffers thought the veggie mix was juiceless and unappealing, but another staffer thought they were pretty good. Still, everyone agreed that these veggies weren’t enough to save this dish.
We’re willing to recommend many of the dishes in the Amy’s lineup. Unfortunately, this dish is a complete dud. We eat a lot of frozen food, and this is one of the worst meals we’ve ever had.

You have got to be kidding. Amy’s veggie loaf is one of my favorites! I think it was the first vegetarian frozen meal I tried (years ago). Maybe if you’re a meat eater, it doesn’t taste as good to you but I’ve never been disappointed.
I love it too.
I agree…..I’d never had an Amys entree and bought it without high hopes, being as alot of these meals arent very good. Granted I added a lil salt n pepper and plant based butter to the potatoes and a sprinkle of lawrys seasoning to the loaf and it was really good!!!
