Trader Joe’s 12 Classic Lemon Bars Review

Trader Joe's 12 Classic Lemon Bars

We all need a little bit of sweetness in our lives now and again. Thankfully, the freezer aisle is full of frozen sweet treats to satisfy a sweet tooth. For example, the Trader Joe’s 12 Classic Lemon Bars, which we’re checking out today, are quite sweet.

To prepare these, simply take them out of the freezer and let them thaw for about 40 minutes. According to the package, you can pop these in the microwave if you can’t wait for all that time, but for the sake of this review we let them thaw naturally.

These are pretty simple. As you can see in the image below, these are mostly lemony filling, with a pie-like crust and a powdery topping. We’re not sure what the topping is, but our guess is a powdered sugar.

Now, these are not for the faint of heart. The lemon taste is extremely potent, to the point that you probably won’t want to eat several of these back to back. It’s a delicious flavor, combining sweetness with a citrusy sourness and tasting richly like lemon all the way. Quite frankly, if you don’t absolutely adore lemons, what are you doing eating these? These are for lemon fanatics.

A serving size is one bar. They’re not big, maybe an inch and a quarter per side, but they’re so rich you probably won’t want to go for seconds. If you can stick with the recommended serving size, you’re only consuming 80 calories and 15 mg of sodium, so these treats come without a whole lot of calorie-induced guilt.

Trader Joe’s 12 Classic Lemon Bars are rich, sweet, and mega-lemony. If you love lemon flavor, these might be your new favorite dessert. If you can’t stand lemon, though, you should probably steer clear of these. These bars are definitely designed for lemonheads!
