We stumbled into the large-size version of Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese completely on accident. We put in an online grocery order, you see, and, as is so often the case, we ended up with a few things we didn’t actually order. Maybe our shopper realized they were picking up food for the world-famous Freezer Meal Frenzy crew and decided to sneak in a little extra something-something? More likely, though, it was an honest mistake made by an unfortunately overwhelmed driver.
Either way, we figured this was as good an excuse as any to give Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese another look. Sure, we’ve reviewed the single-serving version of this meal, and we’ve also reviewed the family-size version. Heck, we’ve even reviewed the baked family-size version (which has bread crumbs on top) and the Mac & Cheese Bites. With that in mind, maybe this review is kind of unnecessary. Then again, what else are we going to do with all this mac and cheese?
Before we give this the ol’ Freezer Meal Frenzy taste test, we’re going to have to cook it. And buckle up, folks, because this one is a real doozy. While we generally expect some hefty cook times for Stouffer’s meals, this one clocks in at a good 11 minutes — and that’s if you use the microwave! If you go with the oven, you’re looking at a solid 51 minutes. We don’t have the patience for that today, so we decided to go with the microwave, and even that wait was excruciating.

Obviously, we’ve had Stouffer’s mac and cheese before, so this isn’t new to us. Stouffer’s makes a delicious macaroni, so we’re definitely not complaining here. We’re glad to be eating this yet again.
Stouffer’s macaroni noodles are nice and thick, so they are really satisfying to bite into. They’re a little starchy, but not enough that we’d complain. And the cheese sauce is delightful. It’s cheddary and creamy, with a slightly salty taste that’s just enough to enhance the flavor. This is a simple dish, but it’s also a classic.
Now, this is a larger portion than the single-serve version, and the box recommends eating about one cup’s worth of macaroni per serving. That gives you about two and a half servings per box. If you can do that, you’re looking at 320 calories and 850 mg of sodium per serving. But if you go hog wild and eat the whole box in a sitting (which our reviewer confirmed is possible), you’re up to 790 calories and 2,140 mg of sodium. You might want to think twice before chowing down this entire thing.
The Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese (Large Size) is really exactly what you’d expect: a larger-sized version of Stouffer’s delicious mac and cheese. While we never intended to review this when we put in our most recent grocery order, we’re thankful for this happy accident.
