Sandwich Bros. Egg & Cheese Pita Snack Sandwiches Review

Sandwich Bros. Egg & Cheese Pita Snack Sandwiches

“Hey bro! You want a sandwich, bro?”

We can’t help ourselves — this is what we hear in our heads whenever we see the name Sandwich Bros. Others might picture sandwich-themed versions of the Mario Bros. But no matter what the company name makes you think of, one thing is clear: Sandwich Bros. really does put out a mean batch of sandwiches.

Today we’re checking out the Sandwich Bros. Egg & Cheese Pita Snack Sandwiches. We did review these same sandwiches a while back, but there are two main reasons we’re revisiting them today. First up, they seem to have gotten a slight name change (from Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches to Pita Snack Sandwiches), which came with a package redesign. If you see these at your local grocery store, you might not immediately recognize them as the new version of an old classic.

Secondly, we’ve been seeing these at a lot more places lately, including our local Target store, which suggests that these are getting more exposure and sparking curiosity in more people than ever before. That seems like more than enough justification for us to revisit these and create an updated review for folks who are curious about these sandwiches but missed out on our previous review.

So, these come six in a box, and every sandwich is individually wrapped. This means they’re really great for grabbin’ and goin’.

Cooking these is super simple. Just grab a sandwich out of the box, remove the wrapper, then wrap the sandwich in a paper towel. Toss the thing into the microwave for about a minute (we find that 70 seconds works best for us), and you’re ready to dig in. You will need to increase the cook time by 30-40 seconds if you want to cook two at once. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, scroll down to the bottom of this review to see our package scans.)

These sandwiches are super simple — they’re just an egg patty and some cheese stuffed into a pita. But sometimes simplicity can be a good thing, and that’s definitely the case here.

Even in the microwave, the pita shell doesn’t get too soggy. We do recommend that when you remove the sandwich from the paper towel, you use it to wipe down the plate, because some moisture will inevitably cling to it during the heating process. If you can dry it up a bit, you can prevent any potential sogginess.

The egg patty is nice and fluffy. It doesn’t have a ton of flavor, but that’s not a bad thing because the cheese takes over the taste department. This is a pasteurized American cheese that has just a little bit of sharpness to it. It’s not a cheddar, which we might have preferred, but it does the trick to tie the whole sandwich together. And when all of it — the pita, egg patty, and cheese — blend together, it makes for a pretty darn tasty combo. We really love these little sandwiches!

One sandwich contains 170 calories and 470 mg. Keep in mind, though, that these are more of an after-school snack than a full-on breakfast, and if you do end up eating these for your morning meal, you’ll probably end up cooking up two of them instead of just one. That brings you up to 340 calories and 940 mg of sodium. That calorie count isn’t bad, but the two-sandwich breakfast does contain quite a bit of sodium. That’s just something to keep in mind.

The Sandwich Bros. Egg & Cheese Pita Snack Sandwiches are true classics of the frozen breakfast world. Whenever we see these at Target, we pick up a box or two, just to keep them on hand. We really love these little flatbread sandwiches, and we think this is the best flavor combo in the entire Sandwich Bros. line.

All the varieties of these taste great to me for the price. I wish I could find them in the stores near me as they seem to have disappeared but I will have to check out Target as you mentioned in your review. Thanks!
