Tyson Any’tizers Buffalo Style Boneless Chicken Bites Review

Tyson Any'tizers Buffalo Style Boneless Chicken Bites

Buffalo chicken is one of our favorite comfort foods. We love plain buffalo chicken, but we also like it when it’s used creatively in dishes such as mac and cheese and sandwiches. So it should come as no surprise that we’ll take any opportunity to review the stuff. And today, an opportunity has presented itself — today we’re checking out the Tyson Any’tizers Buffalo Style Boneless Chicken Bites.

Now, in the proverbial junkkyard of frozen chicken, Tyson seems to be one of the biggest dogs there is. Well, the junkyard analogy seems perhaps a bit unkind to our beloved buffalo chicken — we just mean that Tyson is a big deal when it comes to frozen chunks of delicious chicken. We tried — and loved — the Honey BBQ Boneless Bites, so we’re pretty sure we’re going to love the buffalo variety as well. Of course, we can’t say that for certain until we actually try the things, so let’s dig in.

There’s one last quick thing we should mention before we take our first bite: These can be cooked in the microwave or the oven, but we chose to use the oven for this review. It’s the preferred method, and we wanted to experience these in the way Tyson meant them to be experienced.

Now that that’s out of the way, onward we go, our chicken-loving friends!

One of the things we mentioned in our previous Tyson Any’tizers review is that the sauce portion is a little thin. We’d say that’s true here as well. The buffalo sauce is certainly present, but these pieces of chicken aren’t absolutely dripping with the stuff. It’s a relatively light coating here.

Also just like the BBQ version, the breading is fantastic and the chicken lives up to some fairly high standards. Of course, we did find a piece or two that seemed a bit more gristly than we’d like it to be. This wasn’t a problem with the BBQ version, so we’re not sure if we got an odd batch here or if a little bit of gristle is to be expected as a part of the buffalo chicken bites.

So are these spicy? Well, not really. We’d rate these at a mild spice level. They have more bite than hardcore spice-ophobes would be comfortable with, but for everyone else these should be just fine. Oh, and if you’re looking for something that will set your tongue on fire, you’re not going to find that here.

If you look closely at the photograph of our wings above, you’ll notice that we dabbed some buttermilk ranch dressing on our plate. This really is the perfect complement to these wings, though we know some people would disagree. If you like ranch on buffalo wings, though, these ones combine with the dressing wonderfully.

According to the package, there are eight servings inside. That seems a bit much; we’d estimate there are closer to four. If you follow the bag’s guidelines, you’ll be munching down 180 calories (80 from fat) and 920 mg of sodium. Double that and you’re at 360 calories (160 from fat) and a whopping 1,840 mg of sodium. Wowzer!

The Tyson Any’tizers Buffalo Style Boneless Chicken Bites don’t come with any surprises; these are your pretty standard boneless buffalo wings. Of course, if what you’re craving is a pile of buffalo wings, these will definitely satisfy that craving.
