Healthy Choice Crustless Chicken Pot Pie Review

Healthy Choice Crustless Chicken Pot Pie

If you’re on a strict diet but are helplessly craving pot pie, you might be able to reach a compromise by removing the crust from a pot pie and eating just the filling. At least, that seems to be the philosophy behind the Healthy Choice Crustless Chicken Pot Pie, which contains just 300 calories.

Like many of Healthy Choice’s meals, this one contains a plastic strainer that keeps the main ingredients separated from the sauce until you’re ready to stir it all together.

The chicken content is okay here. It’s not the best chicken we’ve had, but it’s certainly not the worst. It’s juicy and chewy, though it doesn’t have a strong flavor.

Our favorite part of this dish, however, would have to be the dumplings. These bite-sized nuggets are a joy to eat, and there are a pretty decent amount of them floating around in this stew.

The chicken broth sauce is creamy and has a subtle flavor. We would have preferred something a bit richer, but we’re sure this was a concession made to keep that calorie count low. And if we were willing to splurge, we’d go ahead and eat a pot pie with crust, like the delicious Vegetable Pot Pie by Amy’s Kitchen or one of Boomerang’s pies.

The majority of this dish is the veggie content, which contains carrots, peas, and corn. All three have a decent flavor on their own, but when eaten all in one bite, the peas sort of take over.

While we’d definitely prefer the real deal, this crustless pot pie is a quick fix for dieters with pot pie cravings. Obviously, if the crust is non-negotiable, then this just isn’t the meal for you.
