Jimmy Dean Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches Review

Jimmy Dean Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches

As fans of frozen breakfast sandwiches, we’re not strangers to the Jimmy Dean line of frozen foods. We’ve tried several different varieties of Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, including the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches and the Sausage Biscuit Snack Size Sandwiches. They tend to make for a decent mid-range frozen breakfast, though they’re often a little high in calories.

Today we’re diving deeper into this frozen breakfast line to check out the Jimmy Dean Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches. These come four in a box, and each sandwich is individually wrapped.

You can cook these straight out of the freezer if you’d like, but we usually thaw ours overnight first. That brings the cook time down to about a minute, which is perfectly reasonable when it’s early in the morning and we’re really hungry. (To see the full cooking instructions, check out our package scans at the bottom of this review.)

This sandwich is pretty simple. It’s just an egg patty stacked with a slice of round bacon and some cheese, all of which is crammed between two pieces of biscuit.

The biscuit is crumbly and dry, though it soaks up some moisture from the egg and cheese. It tends to feel a little doughy in the middle and drier around the outer edges. It has a good flavor, though, with just a hint of sweetness.

The egg patty is nothing to get too egg-cited about, though it’s not bad. We’re really happy with how thick it is — too many breakfast sandwiches we’ve tried tend to skimp out with a thin little egg patty that you can barely tell is even there. That’s not the case here. The egg patty is a pretty good sized portion of this sandwich.

The bacon is a mottled-looking round slice of the stuff, which makes it the perfect shape for the sandwiches. However, it’s paper-thin and gristly, and some parts are harder to chew through than you’d expect for something so thin. The flavor is alright, though it’s nothing special.

The cheese is American here, which is alright, but we’d definitely prefer a swiss or a cheddar cheese. American cheese has a little bit of a plastic-y taste, which is more pronounced if you’re used to eating real cheddar (which we are).

One sandwich contains 310 calories (170 from fat) and 720 mg of sodium. These sandwiches aren’t super filling, so you could easily munch two of them while you’re sipping your morning coffee. Be careful, because the calories and sodium really add up fast.

The Jimmy Dean Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Sandwiches are a halfway decent way to start off your morning. While there are certainly better breakfast sandwiches on the market, these are fast, easy, and good enough as a meal on the go.
