When we first heard that Cinnabon was launching a selection of frozen breakfast treats, we got pretty excited. The problem, however, was that this happened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that made these pretty difficult to find. We did get around to trying a few of these items eventually, but we missed out on the flagship product of this line, the Cinnabon Frosted CinnaSweet Swirls.
And, to be honest, the few times we did find these, our freezer was already packed pretty full. The box these come in is gigantic, so you’ll definitely need to make sure you have space beforehand if you want to pick these up.
Well, folks, the stars have finally aligned. We found a box of these out in the wild while our freezer had some space in it. So today, we’re finally getting our hands on these sweet treats, and we’re going to be stuffing them into our greedy little mouths. We can’t wait!
As you can see, these come six to a pack. They’re not individually wrapped, but there are dividers to prevent them from freezing together into one big clump. While it would have been nice to have these individually wrapped so we could just take out the desired amount and not worry about the rest lying unwrapped in our freezer, we think this works decently enough.
According to the package, the microwave should work out just fine. In fact, there’s no oven instructions at all, which kind of surprised us. We were more than willing to bake these, but we suppose the microwave will have to do. And we’re going to be honest here: We were a little skeptical of the 30-second cook time. “There’s no way these will get warm enough in just 30 seconds, straight out of the freezer,” we said to ourselves. As it turns out, 30 seconds is plenty. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, check out the package scans at the bottom of this review.)
These come out pretty much perfect. The rolls don’t get too soggy, and they end up delightfully warm in the middle. The cinnamon swirls strike a good balance between being sweet and cinnamony, and the frosting is, as they say, the icing on the cake. Through and through, these are completely delicious.
If we had to make just one nitpick, we’d say that these lack that grainy, sugary texture that you’d expect from a homemade cinnamon roll. Is that a dealbreaker? Absolutely not. We still find these to be wonderful, and we’re really glad we finally got to try them.
And this is neither here nor there, but we think the little cupcake wrappers that these come in are super cute.
One of these cinnamon rolls contains 280 calories and 240 mg of sodium. That doesn’t seem too bad until you consider the fact that these are pretty small. One reviewer had two of them and still felt a little hungry, while another reviewer just ate one as a side to a larger meal.
The Cinnabon Frosted CinnaSweet Swirls are super delicious. It’s pretty hard to mess up a cinnamon roll, and Cinnabon certainly didn’t mess these ones up. If you have room in your freezer for the oversized box, then you should definitely pick up some of these!
