When the craving for something creamy and cheesy strikes, few things compare to a good bowl of mac and cheese. Evol understands this; they provide a fairly impressive lineup of mac and cheese dishes.
We here at Freezer Meal Frenzy took Evol’s Gluten Free Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese for a test drive, and we were rather impressed.
Before we were even done cooking it, we could smell a sharp, smokey hint of gouda. It’s a powerful aroma, one you won’t be able to ignore. While this makes it a potently flavorful dish, it could also be a liability if you heat one up in the office. Your coworkers might now want to put up with your mac and cheese odor.
But for those heating it up at home, it’s quite grand. The smokey taste of the gouda hits immediately and lingers afterward, and the consistency is pretty great, even when this dish is heated up in the microwave.
You’ll also notice the flecks of chive in the mix, which lends maybe a touch of additional flavor, but it’s pretty hard to tell because the gouda has so much presence.
Oh, and the noodles are gluten free, so that’s a big plus for a lot of people as well.
All in all, this is a pretty neat twist on mac and cheese, and as long as you enjoy a nice smokey treat every now and again, Evol’s Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese really hits the spot.
