If the Deep Indian Kitchen brand looks familiar to you, you must have a keen eye! This is actually a revamped version of the Tandoor Chef brand, which we’ve reviewed many times in the past. We’ve always loved Tandoor Chef’s naan pizza, so when we spotted Deep Indian Kitchen Cilantro Pesto Naan Pizza, we were hopeful that it would be just as good.
As long as you have an oven, cooking this pizza is a fairly simple process. Once your oven is preheated, you just need to let it cook for about 14 minutes. The box says that this should be placed directly on the oven rack, but we recommend cooking it on a baking sheet.
Cilantro is an ingredient that can be pretty polarizing. For somewhere between 4 and 14% of the population, cilantro tastes like soap. Thankfully, the cilantro here is used pretty sparingly, and it only enhances the other ingredients in the dish. The naan bread makes the perfect pizza crust, and the creamy cheese and tomatoes taste absolutely fantastic, especially when paired with the light pesto sauce.
If you’ve had the Tandoor Chef version of this pizza, you’re unlikely to notice any major differences. It does seem like the recipe was tweaked slightly — this contains 40 more calories than the original dish — but it’s made with the same great ingredients. Be aware that the nutritional info is a little bit sneaky. The box says that there are two servings of pizza here, but clearly, this is just one oversized slice.
The Deep Indian Kitchen Cilantro Pesto Naan Pizza will satisfy your pizza cravings, but it also offers something different from the traditional pizza experience. This dish isn’t anything wild, but the naan bread and flavorful pesto sauce make it taste like something truly special. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Indian food, this delicious pizza is a must-try.
