Sweet Earth Santa Cruz Burrito Review

Sweet Earth Santa Cruz Burrito

Even if you’re a Freezer Meal Frenzy regular, you may missed our original review of the Sweet Earth Santa Cruz Burrito. This is one of the first products we ever reviewed on the site. Since it appears that Sweet Earth tweaked the old recipe, we thought it was high time we give this product another look.

If you’re not in a hurry to eat, we always recommend cooking Sweet Earth burritos in the oven. It takes around 50 minutes in total, we think it’s worth it; the tortilla and filling will be cooked to perfection. If you’re hungry, however, microwaving is still a great option. The tortilla will be slightly chewier, but the filling is still delicious. Best of all, it’ll be ready to go in just two minutes. Sweet Earth Santa Cruz Burrito

When we took this burrito out of its wrapper, we couldn’t help but notice that it seemed bigger than before. Checking the labels confirmed our suspicions. While the original burrito clocked in at a respectable 330 calories, the new version contains 400 calories. Those aren’t just empty calories either. The new and improved burrito contains an extra gram of protein and three more grams of fiber, making it an incredibly satiating meal.

We’ve always loved the Santa Cruz burrito, and we’re pleased to report that it’s just as tasty as ever. In fact, it might be even better. The fire-roasted tomatoes and Anaheim chili betters add a nice burst of flavor to the hearty pinto beans. It’s hard to taste the chunks of seitan, but they give the burrito a nice meaty texture. Add in a gooey blend of cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheeses, and you’ve basically got a perfect bean burrito.

The Sweet Earth Santa Cruz Burrito has long been one of our favorite frozen burritos, and now that Sweet Earth has beefed up the recipe, it can easily serve as a standalone meal. It’s simple, delicious, filling, and can be ready to eat in a matter of minutes. If you’ve never had this burrito before, or if you haven’t had one in a while, we strongly recommend picking one up.
