Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito Review

Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito

Back when we originally reviewed the Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito, we thought it didn’t quite compare to some other products in the Sweet Earth line. Still, we described it as a “pleasant-tasting burrito.”

Since then, a lot of time has passed, and Sweet Earth has made their burritos a little more substantial. We decided that the Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito was overdue for a brand new review.

Sweet Earth burritos are always at their best when they’re cooked in the oven — if you have the time to do it that way, that’s what we’d recommend. We’re usually in a hurry, however, which is why we typically microwave our burritos when we’re at home. We used the oven the last time we reviewed the Anasazi, so we thought we’d go for the oven this time to simulate our wild and crazy home lives. The process only takes a few minutes, but as a word of warning, we had to cook our burrito for an extra minute before it was heated through.

Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito

The star of this burrito should be the chipotle seitan. It’s delicious, it’s a great source of protein, and it lends the burrito an unusual and appealing flavor. The actual star, however, is the corn. This is loaded with huge piece of corn, and the corn winds up dominating the burrito.

Sweet Earth has tweaked the recipe a bit — this recipe now contains 400 calories rather than the original 340 — but it doesn’t taste all that different to us. That’s a shame, because this burrito really could have benefited from some more dramatic changes to the recipe. It’s not a bad burrito, and “pleasant-tasting” is still an accurate descriptor. Still, it feels like it’s missing something, like a sauce or another ingredient.

The Sweet Earth Anasazi Burrito is a perfectly good option if you’re in the mood for a vegetarian burrito, but it’s not anything special (unless you really love corn). We’d recommend almost all of Sweet Earth’s other burritos over this one. It’s an acceptable burrito, but this isn’t the brand at its best.
