DiGiorno Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza Review

DiGiorno Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza

If you’re looking for a personal-size frozen pizza that has a bit more meat than a plain cheese pizza but less meat than a three-meat pizza, this DiGiorno Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza was pretty much made for you.

This pizza comes with a foldable box that transforms into a cooking tray, but unlike similar pizzas we’ve tried, we really struggled with this one. It didn’t seem like it was perforated in the correct spots, and we had to break open the backside in order for the silver cooking tray portion to fold over the top properly.

Of course, if you can wrangle this box, the pizza itself turns out pretty great.

As longtime fans of DiGiorno’s frozen pizza line, we can say that the biggest difference between the full-size version of this pizza and the personal-size version — when heated in the microwave — is that the pepperoni on the smaller version doesn’t get as crispy around the edges. We assume that heating this in the oven would mitigate this, but we actually like the pepperoni when it’s a little softer.

The other major difference is the crust, which — even with the crisping tray — doesn’t get that golden brown crisp on the outer edges and bottom. Again, this is something that the oven would most likely fix, but we really don’t mind the softer crust. Especially when it’s filled with delicious, melty cheese.

Now, one thing to keep your eye on is that the nutrition info on the box counts a half pizza and a whole pizza. We definitely wouldn’t expect anyone to be filled up on half a personal-size pizza, so make sure you get your info from the correct column. The full pizza contains 690 calories (290 from fat), so it’s not exactly a lightweight meal. It’s also loaded with sodium, at 1390 mg.

The personal-size version of Digiorno’s Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza makes a great quick lunch. Since it’s designed to be microwavable, you can pack it in your lunch box and bring it to work with you. You just might want to avoid making it a regular habit, especially if you’re on a diet.
